Gary Moore – Video

Here is a great video of one of my idol's, Mr. Gary Moore, showing off some great licks, and answering a few questions. Three things jump out at me in this video clip.

• His use of the volume control is astounding. More people need to realise how much tonal variation is available without having to resort to pedals and effects all the time.
• He hardly uses his pinky. That makes me feel so much better because my pinkie is anaemic.
• His fast runs all tend to be in the one position. There are not a lot of rippping, neck climbing runs. Most of the fast stuff is firmly planted in one spot on the neck.

It reminded me that I had missed his latest album, so I've gone out and grabbed it. I'll review it shortly.

Do you Joost?

have you tried Joost yet? I was one of the original beta testers a while back and found it to be a) unusable due to bandwidth and b) lacking anything to watch.

My, have things changed.

After talking to another guitar enthusiast the other day, he told me I should give it another go. And he was right. Featured on Joost now is the GuitarWorld channel, featuring the video lessons and reviews from the magazine's cover discs. While you don't get the full benefit of the lessons without the accompanying tabs, the equipment reviews are fantastic.

If you haven't got Joost I highly recommend you check it out. It's a great time killer (and yes that is Zakk Wylde in the above screenshot).

Diesel Instructional DVD

Diesel has always been one of my favourite guitarists. Even back in the "Injectors" days, I found myself rocking out to the blues rock styling of the man in question. So the news that he was bringing out an instructional DVD had me salivating profusely. Diesel is without a doubt one of the most underrated guitarists/singers in the world today. His solo performances are something not to be missed.

Surely if you play guitar you have seen these by now. StSanders Has taken classic guitar footage from our favourite guitar idols and over dubbed the audio. yeah it sounds lame but the skill he has used in making these is great. You would honestly think you were hearing these masters having a really, REALLY bad night.

Although the EVH video is gold, I can't go past Slash and the talk box. Check these out and know that You tube is good.
