Choosing A Guitar Teacher For Your Son Or Daughter

If you are lucky enough to live in an area that has an abundance of guitar teachers available to teach, this article is for you. Knowing what to look for in a guitar teacher will not only help your son or daughter excell in their instrument, but it will bring them more enjoyment in playing.
These days, it is extremely easy for any guitar player to set themself up with a guitar teaching gig. All you really need to do is place an ad in the paper or online and wait for the calls to come in. Because it is so easy, there might be a number of these people that are not necessarily as qualified for the job as they should be.
The first thing that you should do is contact a number of them and ask them questions. Where do you teach? What types of things will you be teaching? How long have you been playing? Those types of questions. The main thing you are looking for here is not only the answers to the questions but just evaluating their personality as well and making sure that this is a person that you want your son or daughter hanging out with for a weekly lesson. Sure, some areas might only have one or two teachers available but find as many as you can within your comfortable driving distance and fire some questions at them.
Another good thing to look at is whether the teacher teaches out of their home or out of the local music shop. I tend to perfer the music shop teachers. This is simply for the fact that the music store is already set up as a business and usually for teaching as well. Much better than taking your son or daughter to a guy's parent's house who teaches out of his bedroom.
Lastly, once the guitar lessons have started, get your child to play some things for you as they learn them. This will give you an idea on how well the teacher is doing and also gives you input as to whether or not that $20 a weekly lesson is being well spent. Dont forget to ask them if they have learned to tune and restring a guitar because I believe that these are two lessons that should never be overlooked.
Following these simple steps when you are deciding on a guitar teacher for your kids electric guitar lessons will ensure that you have peace of mind when dropping them off for their lesson. It will also keep your kid interested and help them to keep playing and learning guitar. Now all that is needed now is to go shopping for the best electric guitar for kids.
