Welcome to GuitarToxBox V3
Well it's finally here. A lot of blood, sweat and caffeinated tears have lead to the construction of this new behemoth called GuitarToyBox.
This is the third major revision of the site since it's first post, and this is by far the most major change I have made. As you can see, the site has more of a magazine feel to it, moving away from the typical blog layout. It's all designed to help you find the content you are looking for fast and more efficiently.
And going with the new design is a new schedule. The plan is to update the news twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday, with a new column every Friday.
What's that? A column. Yep, I've decided to place a rant, a rave, a thought, a diatribe, whatever I feel like in a new section called "Thoughts From Backstage". It's under the new Columns menu item above.
So what are the plans for the site. Well there a many and most of them are big. Some of the things in the pipeline include:
- Adding new contributors
- Hands On Reviews
- Video Reviews
- Exclusive Interviews
- Competitions and Giveaways
...and more.
So I hope you all jump on and bring your friends, cause this is going to be a hell of a ride from 2009 onwards.
EDIT : I just want to add to this a quick thanks to some other bloggers out there. None of these guys have done anything directly to help with the new design or my renewed focus on the site, but they have been inspirational.
Jon - GuitarNoize
A fellow Australian guitar blogger, who manages to get products to review and give away, and manages to grab some very cool interviews. Even though the internet is a global phenomena, us Antipodes tend to feel a little disconnected down here. Jon's site makes me realise that anything is possible.
Ovidiu - GuitarFlame
I remember the first post on that site, and now it has surpassed this one in it's readership by a long way. Ovodiu has shown me that if I spend enough time on this site, I CAN make it a huge success.
Gear-Vault
The guys at GV have nailed what I think a successful, profitable guitar web site should be. It doesn't look like a thrown together blog, they have monetised it very well, and offer a gret service to the community. Their use of the Revolution theme was the main inspiration for the site redesign, and their "value-add" services, such as the classifieds, gave me lots of ideas.
