Native Instruments Guitar Rig 3

NI Guitar Rig 3

I'm very interested to see, or rather hear, what NI have improved with Guitar Rig 3. I love the sound of a real amp, but in a personal hobby studio with not much room, virtualisation is often a necessity. I have used Guitar Rigs 1 & 2, but there was always something missing in the sound. A certain "body" for lack of a better term. The sounds were great but they just didn't stand out. That's why when I made my choice I went with Amplitube 2. Amplitube 2 reacted to your playing more like a tube amp than it's NI counterparts, and was less resource intensive as well.

But the new Guitar Rig has some cool new amps. Simulating a Marshall Plexi and an Orange type amp are a big thing for me. Two of my favourite amps added to one package. It makes it worth looking at again. Also added are "signature" tones that are designed to accurately recreate the tones of famous guitarists. Another great feature is the auto cabinet matching for selecting heads. This way it automatically picks the best configuration for each amp setup so you can get a good sound straight away.

I'd let you know what it sounds like but you may need to check for yourself at the website. Their demo player doesn't seem to work on Firefox. Not smart NI.
