Recording amps are a great idea. A tube amp sounds best when the volume is maxed and the tubes cranked, unfortunately human ears do not like so much. This amp has an output attenuator built in that lets you push the amp but reduce the output volume to usable levels. Fender has a great demo page up that lets you here this thing in action. My personal favourite is the dirty Tele, but check it out for yourself.
